The legendary Mythic Tale known as the Six Blades of Kojiro stands out as a premier combat challenge in Ghost of Tsushima. To secure the ultimate reward of this questline, players must track down five skilled assassins scattered across the Toyotama region before dueling their leader. Finding these deadly swordsmen requires navigating diverse landscapes and understanding exactly where each intense encounter takes place.
Initiating the Hunt in Umugi Cove
Before you can begin tracking the individual assassins, you must officially activate the quest during Act 2 of the game. Travel to the southwestern coast of Toyotama and enter the secluded, outlaw-filled village of Umugi Cove. Inside the main tavern, locate the musician Yamato to hear the dark story of the deadly Straw Hat duelists.
Speaking with Yamato marks the generalized locations of the five initial combatants directly on your map. This makes traversing the open world significantly easier as you prepare for consecutive lethal duels. Ensuring your resolve meters are completely filled before entering these battlegrounds will give you a major advantage.
First Pair of Straw Hat Assassins
The first opponent, Yasumasa, waits for your arrival at the Duel in the Drowning Marsh, located just south of the Old Kanazawa Marsh. This swampy environment tests your movement speed and forces you to watch your footing closely. Defeating him requires precise parrying against his aggressive standard strikes and quick counterattacks.
Next, you should head to the northern side of the Field of the Equinox Flower to locate Hirotsune at the Duel Among the Spider Lilies. This striking battlefield is filled with vibrant red flowers that set a dramatic tone for the sword fight. Keep your distance during his initial rushes and look for openings right after he finishes his heavy attack strings.
The Remaining Open World Duelists
The next three swordsmen are positioned near various distinct natural landmarks across the beautiful Toyotama region. You will fight Kiyochika under a rushing waterfall along the scenic Musashi Coast, which requires adapting to high visual distraction. Following that, travel to the rocky shore below the Cloud Ridge Shrine to challenge Tomotsugu in an open beach environment.
The final assassin of the initial group is Kanetomo, who stands waiting east of Yamabushi Peak. Each of these combatants utilizes a slightly different pacing and unique attack pattern, forcing you to adapt your defensive timing constantly. Defeating the last of these five targets unlocks the path to the ultimate showdown of the tale.
Confronting Kojiro at Omi Monastery
Once all five initial Straw Hats have been bested, return to Umugi Cove to speak with Yamato once again. The musician will reveal that Kojiro himself is waiting for a final, decisive showdown in a hidden sanctuary. Your destination is the Omi Monastery, situated in the far northwestern section of the map area.
Follow the guiding wind past the massive red tree near the local waterfalls to locate the dark cave entrance. Inside the Mirror of Sacred Light, Kojiro will challenge you to the final and most difficult duel of the quest. Overcoming his incredibly aggressive style rewards players with the highly coveted Kensei Armor set.
